Last week was rather bittersweet for actor Andre Braugher.

Just days after he earned a second Emmy nomination for his role in TNT’s “Men of a Certain Age,” the network cancelled the critically-acclaimed drama due to low ratings.

“TNT has been proud to be a part of ‘Men of a Certain Age’ for two seasons,” said a TNT spokesperson. “While the show has featured great storytelling and impeccable performances, the audience simply hasn’t built to the point where we can continue the series.

“This was an extremely difficult decision for us. We wish Ray Romano, Mike Royce and the terrific cast and crew of ‘Men of a Certain Age’ the very best and look forward to exploring new programing possibilities in the future.”

Premiering in December 2009, the comedy-drama featured Romano, Braugher and Scott Bakula as a trio of friends struggling with the complexities of middle age. Braugher, who played car-dealership manager Owen, was nominated for an Emmy for best supporting actor in a drama series last year, in addition to his nod this year.

The series also won a Peabody Award earlier this year.
