This year was the 30th Year of Power 99’s annual Powerhouse Concert. In celebration of the 30 year milestone the station hosted a three day event which culminated on October 28th at the Wells Fargo Center for the Main Event.

Day one was the Up and Comers Show at the Theater of the Living Arts (TLA) on South Street, with performances by Machine Gun Kelly, Novacane, Curren$y and one of Philadelphia’s hottest up and comers, Chill Moody. Powerhouse Day Two was an “Old School” concert featuring Ginuwine, SWV, Jagged Edge and 112 at the Tower Theater.

The third and final day of the Powerhouse extravaganza, was held at the sold out Wells Fargo center, where attendees packed in to see stars like Trey Songz, Big Sean, Miguel, Usher and Keyshia Cole perform. But the highlight of the evening was no doubt Philadelphia native Meek Mills performing just four days before the release of his highly anticipated album “Dreams and Nightmares”.

He lit up the stage, making the crowd go crazy with his performance, first by bringing out superstar rapper TI, and then later announcing the launch of his own label “Dreamchaser Records”. Meek made the announcement alongside the artists currently attached to label: Philadelphia native female rapper Lee Mazin, songwriter and producer Louie V Gutta, rapper Goldie and Meek’s longtime friend and producer Jahlil Beats from Chester, PA.

The show ended with a performance by Rick Ross who brought out Usher to serenade the crowd as only he can.

This year’s Powerhouse gave fans a weekend full of entertainment, as the concert has been known to do. The only problem with doing a Powerhouse concert this big will be topping it next year!
