NEW YORK–UPTOWN Magazine, the only luxury lifestyle publication for affluent African Americans, announced that attorney, television personality, former prosecutor, political insider, philanthropist and bestselling author Star Jones has joined as Editor-at-Large, effective immediately. Founded in 2004, Uptown Magazine delivers fashion, lifestyle, political and entertainment content specifically created for this previously hard to reach demographic.

Jones first Uptown editorial contribution to the publication will be in the first ever Weddings and Travel special issue available on newsstands January 20. She will make her online debut in late December. Among her Editor-at-Large duties, Jones will act as a contributor with a regular column as well as writing political, entertainment and celebrity feature stories.

“I’m thrilled to be part of this prominent publication. My new role will allow me to speak to this unique and important group by giving the Uptown readers something to think about, talk about and act upon in each issue,” said Jones.

“I have known Star since she was a prosecutor and I now look forward to her contributing her skill and personality to Uptown, said Brett Wright, Uptown’s Chief Creative Officer.

“We are so pleased to have the illustrious Ms. Jones on our staff,” said Uptown Editor-in-Chief Keija Minor. “As an accomplished attorney and television personality, Star represents Uptown’s readers and will bring added star power to our consumers.”

Star Jones has dedicated her professional career to offering a fresh perspective to the days most talked about crime and justice, political and sociological issues from the worlds of news, entertainment, politics and pop culture. Jones, a lawyer by trade, is best known to television viewers for her candor, confidence and uncanny ability to clarify muddy legal and social issues. Her knowledge of the law and talent for television has won her critical acclaim as a news and legal correspondent, television host and social commentator.
