The Philadelphia Gospel Music Association opens voting for the Tri-State People’s Choice Awards

June 4, 2012 Category: Entertainment Posted by:

The Tri-State People’s Choice Awards, the original metric of Delaware Valley Gospel Music will celebrate area fan favorites in music, radio, and even a category for eateries with the “Best” venue for gospel music.

The awards program, sponsored by the newly reorganized Philadelphia Gospel Music Association, gives gospel fans from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware an opportunity to honor their favorite musicians, singers, choirs, and gospel entertainers. The event will be held at the Harold O’Davis Bapstist Church in Northeast Philadelphia, on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 7:00 PM.

PGMA Chairman, Elder Richard F. Safford is heading up the effort to revive this offering of the organization, which began in 1983. “By bringing back the PGMA, we are setting out to create a year-round destination for the community of gospel entertainment,” said Elder Safford, who believes the awards program is a way to honor the memory and work of gospel greats like the late Rev. James Cleveland, the Delaware Valley’s gospel music living legends, and a host of current Gospel musicians, singers, choirs, and gospel media professionals.

Guest appearances include: Zak Williams and 1Akord, Unity Church of Philadelphia; Evangelist Verdis Collins, Ms. Jamie Knight, the Bishop Men of Song, the Blues Gates of harmony, the Metropolitan Mass Choir.
