Students from Philadelphia’s culinary high schools recently prepared and showcased various dishes to food lovers, friends, and local supporters at the 9th Annual “My Compliments to the Chef” event presented by the Communities In Schools of Philadelphia Culinary and Hospitality program.

Open to the public, guests enjoyed a delectable, energizing, and unforgettable culinary tasting experience and silent auction at the Independence Visitor Center, 6th and Market Sts.

Event highlights included celebrity guest Chef Guillermo Pernot of Cuba Libre Restaurant, entertainment by The Simon Gratz Jazz Ensemble, and a ceremony to honor community leaders.

According to Tracee Hunt, Vice President of Human Resources for Philadelphia Coca Cola, “We are happy to be the beverage sponsor and supporter of this youth initiative and the community at large.”

Proceeds from the event support advanced culinary training and academic scholarships for several talented junior and senior high school students.
