Community College of Philadelphia’s dental hygiene students and members of the Pennsylvania Dental Hygienists’ Association (PDHA) will provide free dental sealants to Philadelphia children, Saturday, February 6, 2016, 10 am-2 pm, Community College of Philadelphia’s Dental Clinic, 18th and  Spring Garden Street, Philadelphia, Pa. 19130.

. The program is part of PDHA’s “Sealant Saturday” statewide outreach program designed to provide dental services to underserved children throughout Pennsylvania

Dental sealants are thin, tooth colored coverings painted on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth of children ages 6-16 to help prevent cavities. The average price of a dental sealant ranges between $40-$60 per tooth, but children will get them free of charge February 6.

The College’s Dental Hygiene Clinic has provided examinations, cleanings and x-rays free of charge for more than 30 years. What started as a free dental hygiene and educational service for community members needing dental health care has become an essential part of the city’s health care infrastructure. The 16-chair clinic also serves as a teaching and training facility for students, who can earn up to $70,000 in their first year as dental hygienists. Students serve approximately 1,000 patients each year, many referred by the City of Philadelphia’s District Health Centers.

Important Note:  Advance registration is required because space is limited. Call 215-751-8625 during regular business hours to make an appointment.
