Tuesday, May 4, 2010 is Delaware Valley Stroke Alert Day. According to the American Stroke Association about 795,000 Americans each year suffer a new or recurrent stroke. That means, on average, a stroke occurs every 40 seconds. It’s the number 3 cause of death in the United States taking more than 143,000 lives each year.
Knowing and monitoring your blood pressure is vitally important in the battle against stroke. That’s why the Jefferson Acute Stroke Center at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital is offering free stroke screenings at a variety of locations.
