DELAFIELD, WIS. – A new throat-specific probiotic powder to help maintain the health of the ear, nose and throat is now available from True Botanica, a nutritional supplements producing company.

Called True Defense™, the cherry-berry flavored powder contains the throat-specific probiotics Blis K12 and a proprietary blend of all-natural ingredients designed to restore a natural, healthy bacterial balance in the mouth and throat. Scientific research has shown that a positive balance of good bacteria in the mouth and throat can help provide a natural, protective shield that can keep viruses and bad bacteria from entering the respiratory system.

This research also indicates that there are many reasons for a decrease in the optimal number of the so-called BLIS K12 type of bacteria that should normally occur in the upper respiratory tract. Children with an abundance of these probiotics in the ear, nose and throat mucous membranes are healthier and are less likely to miss school days.

Developed by practicing physicians and based on solid scientific evidence, the True Defense powder may be taken at hourly intervals to help relieve the occasional sore throats. It can also be used long term on a daily basis to help support the natural immune defenses of the mucous membranes of the mouth, ear and throat. Repopulating the upper respiratory tract with these bacteria also eliminates one of the main causes of bad breath.

According to Ross Rentea, MD, and board-certified pediatrician Mark Kamsler, MD, both of True Botanica and developers of the new product, in addition to the Blis K12 probiotic blend, the product also contains enzymes, elderberry, and Vitamin C, all of which help maintain overall good health.

Discussing why True Botanica created this new children’s product, Dr. Rentea cited research by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) that children average 6-10 colds each year. He also pointed out that according to the Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research, several of the top causes for school absences include the common cold, ear infections, and sore throat.

He also observed that “True Botanica’s extensive research and testing indicate that the probiotics and other ingredients in True Defense help to maintain the respiratory health of the throat, sinuses and ears.”

The supplement has been tested by an independent U.S. lab and is manufactured in a state-of-the-art GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)-certified facility. GMP certification ensures that the product manufacturing has undergone evaluations for quality, purity, and safety, according to guidelines of the National Nutritional Foods Association.

True Defense probiotic powder for children is available through True Botanica of Delafield, Wisconsin, in boxes containing 30 single-dose packets. For more information or to purchase True Defense probiotic powder for children, visit www.truebotanica.com or call 1-800-315-TRUE.

Based on decades of experience in clinical practice and a long-standing interest in researching and developing new pharmaceutical-quality nutritional supplements, the partners aim to utilize the best in the emerging modern nutritional technology for the creation of products that support holistically the body, mind and spirit. The company is located at 418 Genesee St., Suite 500, Delafield, WI 53018.
