Great Philly Schools is pleased to announce that PECO will sponsor the 2014 Philly High School Fair, which will be held Friday, October 17 (3 PM to 7 PM) and Saturday, October 18 (9 AM to 3 PM) at the Armory at Drexel at 33rd and Market Streets.  PECO’s sponsorship supports the Fair’s mission of providing accurate information and resources in one convenient location to as many Philadelphia high school-bound families as possible.

“The goal of the High School Fair is to bring together parents, students, and high school representatives from across the city so that families can learn more about their options,” said Lori Shorr, Chief Education Officer. “We encourage all middle school families to come to Drexel’s Armory on October 17 or 18 to get important information in order to begin applying to city high schools.”

Attendees will receive copies of the GreatPhillySchools.org High School Guide, which contains program descriptions and performance data for nearly every public and private high school in the city. It also includes application deadlines and application forms and instructions for applying to district, charter and Archdiocesan high schools. The same information and tools are available to parents online at GreatPhillySchools.org.

For the first time this year, an opt-in mobile text message campaign is available to help parents keep the high school application process on track, get alerts about deadlines and information about open houses. Parents can subscribe to text message alerts by texting LEARN to 97779.

To support families both before and after the Fair, The Graduation Coach Campaign and GreatPhillySchools have also created a digital video, which guides families through the entire high school application process. This video is available on YouTube at www.youtube.com/gradcoachcampaign as well as on Comcast On Demand under the Get Local, Philly In Focus folder.
