2016 is an exciting year in Philadelphia!  Two important occasions contributing to such excitement including the Democratic National Convention (DNC) and the 40th Anniversary of one of our cultural treasures, the African American Museum in Philadelphia (AAMP). In celebration of both occasions, UPPN, Alist Events Marketing, The League of 1789 and our host committee have come together in partnership to kick-off the DNC festivities to host Afro-LatinX: An Art, Music, & Culture Mixer (#AfroLatinXPHL) held Sunday, July 24, 2016, from 4pm – 7pm.  We have formed a collaboration with Esperanza and the African American Museum to enhance diversity inclusion & culture among Black and Latino professionals/voters. Our lead sponsor for this event is Wells Fargo.

#AfroLatinXPHL is a complimentary event that is RSVP ONLY. This day/early evening cocktail event will feature live musical performances, DJs in two galleries, and complimentary hors d’oeuvres served. This event will attract local/national politicians, professionals, thought leaders, entrepreneurs and various creative taste makers, and will include special appearances by international musician Jeff Bradshaw and world-renowned artist and creator of Def Poetry Jam, Danny Simmons. This event is also honoring the African American Museum of Philadelphia (AAMP) for its 40th Anniversary with an opportunity to view the museum’s premier exhibition “Arresting Patterns: perspectives on race, criminal justice, artistic expression, and community” presented in collaboration with Artspace.

Professional Attire is required

(Please note: due to alcohol being served, we are asking for the attendance of those 21+ years of age and older).

We will use hashtag: #AfroLatinXPHL and encourage you to use it as well before and during the event.
