One of the City’s largest free, family-friendly Halloween event for all

On Wednesday, October 31, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Beech Community Services will host its Annual Avenue of Treats. This free event attracts hundreds and takes place along Cecil B. Moore Avenue between North Broad and 16th Streets. In addition to free treats, children can also enjoy fun with community partners, face painting and other fun activities.

“This event has grown to be a Philly favorite that entire community enjoys,” said Christine Brown, director of Beech Community Services. “It’s a fun and safe event where adults and children join in on the festivities showcasing creative costumes, enjoying fun with various community partners and filling their reflective bags with treats and other giveaways.”

Statistics show that every year, twice as many children pedestrians are killed while walking on Halloween compared to other days of the year. In addition, only 12 percent of parents use reflective tape or gear, and 18 percent of children 5 years or younger are allowed to trick-or-treat alone each year.

The Avenue of Treats event provides all children with reflective bags and tips to combat these statistics, inform families and ensure that children have a safe Halloween.

“[The] Avenue of Treats is a great community event, and each year there is a new organization that comes on board to support our efforts,” said Dr. Kenneth Scott, president of Beech Companies. “The community continues to be a vital partner that helps us accomplish our vision and mission for strong community development.”
