What more can be said about Cirque du Soleil? It is the largest producer of theatrical shows in the world. They have set the standard for high-flying stage productions and creativity. The newest installation of Cirque du Soleil is called “TORUK – The First Flight.” For the first time, Cirque du Soleil takes its inspiration from the big screen. “TORUK – The First Flight” brings the world of James Cameron’s “Avatar” to life at the Wells Fargo Center for an unforgettable experience!
“TORUK” — from start to finish — feels very much like an out of body experience. The aesthetics immediately transport the audience to the world of Avatar. Those familiar with the Avatar story will not witness a replication of that plot during this performance because it predates the storyline told in the 2009 film.
This installment takes place on the moon of Pandora. The story follows three young members of the Na’vi tribe on their quest for their first flight with the legendary Toruk creature. The story is narrated by a storyteller who walks the audience through various phases of the Na’vi’s journey. The use of projections to create realism and hauntingly beautiful melodies, paired with mind-boggling displays of athleticism create a truly visceral experience!
“TORUK” combines the art of storytelling, incredible displays of agility, and breathtaking visuals in a way that is both imaginative and groundbreaking. The set design is magnificent! The vibrant colors, constant changes in props and scenery, and the intricate attention to detail will capture the audience’s attention throughout the performance.
“TORUK- The First Flight” premieres in Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Center on March 8th and runs through March 12th. Visit https://www.cirquedusoleil.com/usa/philadelphia/toruk/buy-tickets/ for show times and ticket information. This is a show you do not want to miss!
