Congressman Bob Brady receives USW Local 10-1 working class hero award named in his honor

Congressman Bob Brady (D., PA) is the proud recipient of the first annual Bob Brady Working Class Hero Award from the United Steelworkers Local 10-1.

 

USW Local 10-1 President Jim Savage presented the award at the first annual awards night and celebration dinner to honor the men, women and organizations who worked to save the Sunoco Philadelphia refinery and the thousands of direct and indirect jobs associated with it.

 

“We wanted to show our appreciation to Congressman Brady for saving our jobs. Brady stepped up to the plate and fought for us and his fight resulted in a joint venture with the Carlyle Group and Sunoco, Inc. and the formation of a new company – Philadelphia Energy Solutions, Savage said. “We named an award after Bob Brady and he will be the first to receive what will be an annual award.”

 

Brady said he was be honored to receive the award. “I was proud to stand in solidarity with the men and women of Local 10-1 who kept the pressure on to save their jobs. They inspired me.”
