
State Rep. Maria Donatucci, D-Phila./Delaware, reminded residents the state’s heating assistance program, LIHEAP, has begun accepting applications.
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program is a federally funded initiative that provides grants to eligible Pennsylvanians to help pay for heating bills. LIHEAP offers cash grants sent directly to the utility company, or crisis grants for households in immediate danger of going without heat.
“I encourage anyone who is interested in this program to apply as soon as they can,” Donatucci said. “In addition, my staff and I are happy to help residents fill out the application, and to answer any questions they may have about the program. Nobody should go without heat this fall and winter.”
Household income limits to qualify vary according to family size, and increase $6,240 for each additional person. The eligibility guide is as follows:
