Jazz is undoubtedly one of the most influential forms of music in history.  Rooted in songs created during slavery and the blues from the south, Jazz continues to serve as an inspiration to R&B, soul, rock and roll, Latin and Afro-Cuban music, country music, hip-hop and a variety of other genres. Much like jazz, hip-hop has been one of the most influential forms of music and expression. It speaks to and for an entire culture and doesn’t always fit into a neat box.

Continuing in that path of thinking and creating outside the box is Nickel and Dime Ops. The hip-hop/jazz fusion band combines both elements to create conscious lyrics over complex arrangements. Now, Nickel and Dime Ops creates music magic again with their sophomore album, “Resuscitation Music”.

Nickel and Dimes Ops was formed in 2010. The  members of Nickel and Dime Ops are: Nickel Cinco (MC), Karlea Lynne’ (vocals), Jason Marshall (tenor sax and musical director), Wayne Tucker (trumpet), Corey Wallace (trombone), Willerm Delisfort (piano/keys), Andy Bianco (guitar), Dezron Douglas (bass), Norman Edwards Jr. (drums).

The nine-piece band has traveled the nation and the world sharing the stage with some of the best in the music industry. Members of the group have performed with icons such as Stevie Wonder, The Roots, Alicia Keys, Bobby McFerrin, Sting, Aretha Franklin, Common, and Erykah Badu. They’ve also performed for former President Barack Obama and their signature sound and dynamic stage presence has also earned them a seven-year weekly residency at the Smoke Jazz and Supper Club in NYC.

“Resuscitation Music” features 14 tracks that are an eclectic blend of rawness, emotion and sophistication. Their sound is unique, multifaceted and it will certainly take listeners on an unexpected journey. The album features Philadelphia’s own, two-time Grammy nominated songstress Jean Baylor on the track “The Law of Attachment.” The titles of the songs on “Resuscitation Music” such as “Purpose,” “40 Wishes” and “Dope Directive” will grab your attention… the content within promises to keep it.  “Resuscitation Music” is available for pre-order now at www.SpotMeANickel.com.

You can check out a visual clip of the track “The Builders” ft. Victoria Cave here: https://youtube/_Lo49JIkzaQ. The album will officially be released on April 23rd. This is without a doubt an album worth purchasing and a group worth supporting!
