The first annual entertainment event geared to inspire and bring hope to homeless families.

The event took place June 11th at the Vare Recreation Center 2600 Morris Street in South Philadelphia. Entertainers from various cities are came to show solidarity for the cause to bring more awareness to and show support for the insidious phenomenon of homelessness since all cities face this problem.
This event was the first annual program that will travel to a different city each year. The home base for this program, which is being geared as a movement, is based in Philadelphia as a non-profit organization founder and organizer is KT Terry The Poetic Queen.
KT Terry is a poet and actress in the upcoming international movie produced by Ducor Media’s production company called “The Blessed Curse”. She is also a songwriter and vocalist having one release to her credit penning “Don’t Give Up The Love” in 1985. She was also a former model for Photo Jems.
The spark began to burn in Terry many years ago working with a health organization in community relations where she created programs for the organizations community of members and serviced the homeless during a special event spearheaded by Jannie Blackwell. Since then, she felt a responsibility to do something. After experiencing homelessness for a short period of time after losing a good paying job and her apartment being burned out she realized it was time to get serious-that this was an appointment.
On June 11th the fruits of her labor and long standing vision was unveiled successfully in association with former State Rep. Kenyatta Johnson, who was also a special guest speaker. Other special speakers included: the late Fatimah Ali, journalist and radio host of WURD-AM, and Kimberly Redefining Freedom, Program Coordinator for Duke University’s Islamic Studies Center and owner of “Press Toward Freedom.”
Terry is presently traveling the city performing spokenword that she calls her ministry to teach, as well as facilitating educational workshops for children with her freelance business ” Program Development and Activity Facilitation which you can find in the Philadelphia, Public Library’s After School Programs Booklet. Terry is the Executive Producer and Director of the upcoming documentary about homelessness called ‘Vicissitudes of a Street Traveler.”
