Mantua came together for two end of summer community celebrations — the Mantua Fun & Games Festival at Miles Mack Playground and a book bag and school supplies giveaway at Dimplez For Dayz Recreation Center, where 1,000 book bags and school supplies were distributed.
At the festival, 250 youth and families participated in game activities, face painting, free food and gifts, including Phillies rally towels and Philadelphia Stars t-shirts.
A special thanks goes out to the Department of Parks and Recreation and its site supervisor, Khadijah Muhammad, who helped create a safe and fun environment at the festival without any incidents of fights or disruption.
The event was dedicated to the memory of Julius R. Brown and Mary Johnson of Mantua who lost their lives to gun violence 34 years ago and on July 28, 2022, respectively.
