Pretzels, hot dogs, funnel cakes, and the joyful laughter of children all combined to create a feeling of spirited merriment that emanated from the grounds of the historic Cliveden Estate last weekend during Mt. Airy Day.
Mt. Airy Day proved to be a fun-filled family day that was reminiscent of a country village fair. The annual event, held this year on May 7, is sponsored annually by the West Mt. Airy Neighbors and East Mt. Airy Neighbors.
Besides delicious food, live entertainment and kid’s games, there were vendors selling just about everything—food, clothing, jewelry, plants, hand-crafted goods and arts and crafts. Social Service agencies and small business were in attendance, providing information about their services.
There also was a tour of Cliveden’s Main House that featured a visit to its 1767 Kitchen and a view of its core exhibition, Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness?, located in the Carriage House.
Organizers said this year’s festival had a great turnout and many food truck vendors reported selling out by the late afternoon. Local artisans, shops and musicians engaged the crowds, all to the tune of live bands that included local artists like the Dukes of Destiny and the Boyler Boys.
The day-long festival received support from the Cliveden, Valley Greene Bank, Philadelphia Federal Credit Union, Weaver’s Way, Chestnut Hill Hospital, Mt. Airy USA, Lindy, Rotary Club of Chestnut Hill, Inspire, Electrical Wizardry Inc., GEN3, Little Jimmie’s Bake House, Alma Mater Restaurant, Abington Friends School, The Miquon School and Mt. Airy Animal Hospital.
