Host Committee partnered with local digital agency O3 World to upgrade website for improved user experience
The Philadelphia 2016 Host Committee for the Democratic National Convention today launched the first phase of its revamped website, which provides users with a more navigable, easy-to-use experience as they search for information related to Philadelphia’s preparations to host the 2016 Democratic National Convention. The Host Committee has partnered with O3 World, a Philadelphia-based digital product design and development agency, on the website refresh, which maintains its original URL, www.phldnc.com. O3 World donated its services to the Host Committee to upgrade the existing website.
“The Host Committee’s website is a great resource for residents and visitors seeking information about our efforts, and this redesign enables it to be more accessible and user-friendly,” said Kevin Washo, Executive Director of the Philadelphia 2016 Host Committee. “We are so grateful to O3 World for their hard work on this project, which will help us better connect with members of the public as we get into the final months of planning for the Democratic National Convention.”
“We’re proud to partner with the Host Committee and donate our services for such an important initiative.” said Keith Scandone, partner and CEO of O3 World. “As the DNC shines a spotlight on Philadelphia, it’s an honor to make a positive contribution to an event that showcases the city’s growth and significance.”
Phase I of the website redesign features a number of updates to the site’s visual design and user interface, including a new mobile menu to make the site fully navigable across devices. A new CMS will improve the ease and speed with which the Host Committee provides updates and the latest news as the Convention nears. Photos throughout the website were taken and donated by Philadelphians Joe Val and Albert Lee.
This is the first of a series of upgrades the Host Committee and O3 World are making to the website as the Host Committee prepares to welcome, provide information and make announcements to local residents, businesses, Convention guests and members of the press leading up to the Democratic National Convention. Additional phases of the website will be launched throughout the spring.
The O3 World team also turned the Host Committee’s Vendor Directory, which provides information about vendors and suppliers available for contract, into a live, searchable database, available on-site for anyone seeking vendors for their own, Convention-related needs. The Vendor Directory aggregates information by business name or specialty and category. It also enables hyper-specific searches by providing an option to filter by specific business certification.
The Vendor Directory, which continues to grow as additional businesses register to it, can be accessed through the drop-down menu of the “Vendors” tab at the top-right of the Host Committee’s homepage as well as directly here: http://www.phldnc.com/vendor-directory/.
Businesses interested in being listed in the Vendor Directory can fill out the online form found by clicking on the “Vendors” tab or directly here: http://www.phldnc.com/philadelphia-2016-vendor-form/
The Democratic National Convention will take place July 25-28, 2016 in Philadelphia.
