Temporary closure scheduled for Friday, Nov. 7 through Monday, November 10

Martin Luther King Drive between the Art Museum Circle and Sweetbrier Drive will be closed to all traffic throughout the weekend, Streets Commissioner David J. Perri announced today. The following temporary restrictions are scheduled to be in effect from approximately 9:00 PM on Friday until 5:00 AM on Monday:

Southbound Martin Luther King Drive traffic will be stopped at Sweetbrier Drive. Vehicles can continue toward Center City by using the Schuylkill Expressway (entrance on Girard Avenue) or by taking 34th Street south to Spring Garden Street.

Northbound traffic will be stopped at the Art Museum Circle. Vehicles can travel north using Spring Garden Street to 33rd Street and 34th Street to Girard Avenue or by using Kelly Drive.

The temporary closure will allow Streets Department employees to safely make repairs to the roadway, parapet walls, and curbs and sidewalks. This work has been scheduled overnight in order to expedite the repairs and minimize the inconvenience to affected drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians. Police Department assistance will be on site to help maintain a safe traffic flow in the area.

All work will be completed and traffic will be restored by 5:00 AM Monday morning. The Streets Department thanks citizens in advance for their patience and cooperation during this project.
