The West Philadelphia Cultural Alliance’s Paul Robeson House Museum in partnership with the Parkside Historic Preservation Association and the West Philadelphia Senior Community Center will hold its 11th Annual Jazz Jamboree on Sunday, August 11, 2013 from 4-7pm at the West Philadelphia Senior Community Center, 1016-26 N. 41st Street, Phila., PA 19104-1292.
The event will be emceed by Stephanie Renee of WURD 900 AM Radio. .
The 11th Annual Jazz Jamboree will feature Ralph Penn & Friends with vocalist Juanita Holiday, special guest tenor saxophonist Bootsie Barnes, Philadelphia’s latest jazz sensation Sadayah Galloway on drums and John Holton on keyboard.
The Paul Robeson Freedom Fighter Award will be presented to Charlotte Blake Alston, Master Storyteller, Narrator and Singer; E. Steven Collins, Director of Urban Marketing and External Relations at Radio One and Host of Philly speaks on Old School 100.3; James Harper, Jr., Business Manager, Laborers’ Local 413; J. Whyatt Mondesire, Owner, Philadelphia Sunday SUN and President of the Philadelphia Chapter NAACP; Glenn Ellis, Health & Wellness Education and Writer, Strategies for Well-Bring, LLC; Jettie D. Newkirk, Esq., Attorney at Law; Larry Robins, Robin’s Bookstore & Moonstone Arts Center; Everett Staten, CEO, Everett & Association and Founder, Black History & Culture Showcase; and Joel Wilson, President & CEO, JCW Computer Consulting, LLC.
