As God affords us the opportunity to rise each morning, especially during these beautiful summer days — heat and all — let’s remember that enjoying life to the fullest is crucial to your peace. I’ve learned that living life to the fullest each day is the key to my happiness, joy, and excitement, as well as to coping with my downfalls and my not-so-good days, enjoying all of them in whatever form they come in.
This summer, God has been extremely good to me. I have had the opportunity to become an author of an anthology — a book of poetry, celebrating 20 years of poetry in “spoken word of mobile, an open mic poetry venue I created back in 2001 rooted in the power of poetry, in order to share the room and the craft with others.
What are your talents? Is there anything you enjoy doing that would allow you to live your life to the fullest?
Every person possesses talents and gifts, but we must first discover them and then walk in them. Poetry is one of my talents — one of the God-gifted crafts that I share throughout Philly and the world each and every day. As you begin to identify your God-given talents, you will also begin to live your life to the fullest. Every day of our lives is worth living.
Another way to enjoy your life to its fullest is by challenging yourself to step out of your routine. Most recently, I had an opportunity to hang out with some friends and associates as we just cruised the Delaware River in a yacht — a prime example of how I am living my own life to the fullest this summer. As we gathered, cruised, and chatted, we enjoyed what God has given us; the sun to enjoy, the water to sail in, the thoughtful conversations. The excitement that we shared was powerful, just being in nature, enjoying who we are together as people. Children of God, believers and unbelievers, simply enjoying our day — that is what we had in common.

Sometimes just the act of making choices that challenge us can be difficult, but we shouldn’t take too long in coming to those decisions. It’s a matter of stepping out on faith and acting on them.
I’ve also had the opportunity this summer to enjoy sitting on the sand, enjoying the cool breeze from the ocean, seeing the green and blue water, getting into it, and watching others enjoy their lives as well. We only go around one time, and God does not give us an opportunity to say, ‘Okay, life lived — the next time I come back, these are the things that I am going to do.’ This is our only opportunity, audience; this is your time, your chance to enjoy your everyday life to the fullest.
Don’t be bashful — be bold. Don’t be fearful — show how brave you are. Don’t allow the enemy to taunt you and tell you that you are not worthy; all things are possible through God and everyone is worthy., We can all enjoy our everyday lives to the fullest — we just have to make a conscious choice to do so.
Where do you stand in your walk? As you move through life, where do you place yourself? Get up out of that house, get up off your couch, and begin walking into what God has just for you.
Enjoy your life, smile, go to a jazz show, go to the park, do a First Friday event, listen to some music, go to an open mic — whatever it is, get up off of your couch and begin enjoying your life to the fullest every day. Make a start with something today, right now — enjoy who you are, God created you to be your best. Don’t fret — just get up, enjoy every day, and be the best you can be. Until next time…PEACE!
