On Saturday June 16, Organizing for America Pennsylvania (OFA PA) volunteers and community leaders will host voter registration drives in communities across the state to talk to people one-on-one about what’s at stake in the presidential election and remind them of the importance of making their voices heard in November.

In Philadelphia, Actress Tatyana Ali and volunteers will gather at the Mt. Airy Arts and Groove Festival at 7165 Lounge, 7165 Germantown Avenue at 2:00 PM, to register voters and educate people about the latest voter registration and voting laws.

On Saturday, as Mitt Romney passes through Pennsylvania, volunteers who have been hard at work in their communities for over a year will discuss the progress they have seen under President Obama in contrast to Mitt Romney’s economic scheme that is familiar and troubling: more budget-busting tax cuts for the wealthy and fewer rules for Wall Street. It’s the same formula that benefitted a few, but crashed our economy and punished the middle class.

The Obama campaign is investing in a grassroots movement that is organizing in every corner of Pennsylvania, and that organization will help ensure the President is reelected in November. We believe we’re better off as a country when more eligible citizens can access the polls and cast a ballot for the candidate of their choice.

To that end, this weekend Obama for America will be working across their communities to register new voters. OFA PA includes information on the new voter ID law in all its volunteer trainings, information resources, and voter outreach activities.

GottaVote.org is a one-stop shop for getting the facts on voting, reminders for key dates and deadlines, and alerts on the status of voting rights in your state. The President’s campaign is about inclusiveness and moving forward, not backward. That’s why we’re trying to get as many Americans involved as possible. That’s the true spirit of our elections and our country.
