In celebration of National Ice Cream Month and all things summer, Reading Terminal Market, 12th and Filbert Streets, has announced the return of the “Sidewalk Sizzle and Ice Cream Freeze” set to take place on Saturday, July 18, from 10 AM to 4 PM. The event features Market merchants including Bassett’s Ice Cream, Miller’s Twist, Valley Shepherd Creamery, Pennsylvania General Store, Beck’s Cajun Café, Mueller Chocolate Co., La Divisa Meats, Molly Malloy’s and The Original Turkey set up outside along Filbert Street preparing a variety of summer foods that will be available for purchase.
Among items to be featured are turkey legs, grilled Tastykakes, chocolates, grilled sausage sandwiches, Cajun burgers and shrimp kabobs, and grilled corn on the cob, as well as a variety of ice cream treats such as grilled fruit sundaes, sheep’s milk gelato and more. Activities include ice cream eating contests and children’s arts and crafts.
In addition to the tasty treats, a group of performers with FringeArts will serenade attendees by singing original songs written specifically for each ice cream flavor featured at Bassett’s while using metal milkshake cups and empty ice cream drums as instruments.
