State Rep. Cherelle L. Parker, D-Phila., announced she will sponsor a legal workshop, “Your Right to Know,” on Saturday, June 2 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Finley Recreation Center, 7701 Mansfield Ave.
Attorneys will be on hand to discuss such topics as: landlord/tenant rights and responsibilities; aging and disability benefits; property transfers; services for active and veteran military personnel; the role of the public defender; and mediation as it relates to family law.
“On any given day my constituents have a number of questions related to their legal rights and responsibilities,” Parker said. “With that in mind, we decided to bring representatives from major agencies that are trained in the topics mentioned above into the community to guarantee that our constituents have access to the resources they need.”
Participating agencies include: Community Legal Services, Philadelphia VIP, Military Assistance Program, Legal Clinic for the Disabled, Defenders Association and the Good Shepard Mediation Program.
“Community workshops such as this allow constituents to have their questions or concerns addressed by the proper agencies, interact with neighbors and share their experiences,” Parker said. “Our workshops address important topics and I am confident that everyone will find them useful.”
For anyone interested in the workshop, additional information is available at Parker’s constituent service office by calling 215-242-7300.
