Reeblack’s Dinner and A Movie returns to the Point Of Destination Cafe on Friday May 20 with a special screening of two new films.
The lively documentary ‘Why Do Jamaicans Run So Fast?’, highlights the life and musical joy of top Jamaican athletes, with unique footage shot during and (directly) after the Olympics 2008 in Jamaica, has been nominated at the Black Film Festival 2009 (ABFF).
This 61-minute, continuous “Oh my” journey, starring Jamaican Olympic gold medal and world record holder Usain Bolt, the fastest man alive, will be receiving worldwide attention. The dedication to speed and life of several top Jamaican athletes, as told through their own words and sounds, in their natural environment, created this unique footage.
Preceded by ‘Thumb Sucking Weedie’, a short animation by Philly’s own M.C. Breeze.
At The Point Of destination Cafe, 6460 Greene Street in Mt. Airy. Admission is free with the purchase of a soul food friday meal ($12 and up). Call 215-849-7771 for more details.
