Turnpike: 10,500-plus drivers could have vehicle registrations suspended

July 7, 2017 Category: Local Posted by:

If you have unpaid PA Turnpike toll violations you are risking suspension of your vehicle registration. A new law (Act 165 of 2016) taking effect August 4th of 2017 allows the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) to suspend the vehicle registration of any Pennsylvania motorist who has PA toll violations (including tolls and fees) totaling $500 or more or 6 or more separate instances of violation.

Before this law takes effect, the PA Turnpike is running a partial amnesty program beginning July 5, 2017 through August 4, 2017. How does the partial amnesty program work?

Toll violations that are newer than 60 days can be settled by paying in full the outstanding toll amount, all other fees will be forgiven.

Toll violations older than 60 days that have been referred to collections may be settled by paying in full the outstanding toll amount and a portion of the outstanding fees.

Call 1-877-PENNPASS (1-877-736-6727) to take advantage of this program from July 5, 2017 through August 4, 2017. If you think you may be a violator click the Unpaid Balance Lookup link to access our unpaid balance look up system. You will need your license plate number to complete the look up.

Settle all your outstanding violations including all tolls and fees with the PA Turnpike now to ensure your registration remains in good standing. In certain situations, a payment plan may be available.

Once your registration has been suspended you will owe all outstanding tolls and fees to the PA Turnpike and an additional $91 fee to PennDOT for registration reinstatement. Take action now to avoid this situation and return your account to good standing.
