Foxx to introduce legendary concerts including “Live at the Sunset Strip” on “Richard Pryor Radio”

NEW YORK– Sirius XM Radio recently announced that it will launch “Richard Pryor Radio,” a three-day channel devoted to the barrier-breaking comedian and entertainer beginning Friday, June 7 at 1:00 pm ET on The Foxxhole, Jamie Foxx’s 24/7 exclusive comedy and entertainment SiriusXM channel.

In celebration of the five-time Grammy and Emmy Award-winning comedian’s life and work, and the upcoming release of No Pryor Restraint: Life in Concert, SiriusXM’s “Richard Pryor Radio” will air from Friday, June 7 at 1:00 pm ET through 3:00 am ET on Monday, June 10 on The Foxxhole, SiriusXM channel 96.

“Richard Pryor Radio” will feature uninterrupted material by the comedian spanning from 1966 through 2005.  The broadcast will include material from his legendary albums including “Craps (After Hours)”; …”Is It Something I Said?;” “Wanted/Richard Pryor – Live in Concert;” Here and Now; …And It’s Deep Too!; Evolution/Revolution: The Early Years and more.  Jamie Foxx will introduce legendary concerts including Live on the Sunset Strip on “Richard Pryor Radio.”

“I can’t think of anything more attention-grabbing than a Richard Pryor binge-o-rama.  Who can laugh that long and hard? Thank god for Obamacare, because after December, broken funny bones can’t be used as a pre-existing condition,” said Jennifer Lee Pryor, Richard Pryor’s widow. “Seriously, I’m thrilled to see Richard’s extensive body of work celebrated on SiriusXM. There was never anyone like him, no one as funny. I’ll be listening, remembering and laughing.”

“Richard Pryor—one of my greatest inspirations and influences—revolutionized the way we perform and listen to comedy,” said Jamie Foxx. “I am honored to transform The Foxxhole into ‘Richard Pryor Radio’ and invite listeners across the country to join me in paying tribute to a true entertainment icon.”

“It’s a rare treat to present ‘Richard Pryor Radio’ since Jamie Foxx and many of the comedians on SiriusXM were inspired by Pryor himself,” said Scott Greenstein, President and Chief Content Officer, SiriusXM. “The genius of Richard Pryor and his incredible body of work will come to life during this special takeover by one of comedy’s true pioneers.”

Richard Pryor was a stand-up comedian and entertainer widely known for his examinations of the American experience and comedic analysis of controversial issues such as race, sex and drugs. The multi-talented entertainer, known for his sharp wit and tongue, explored contemporary issues with humanity and honesty.  On Tuesday, June 11, Shout! Factory will release No Pryor Restraint: Life in Concert, a seven CD and two DVD collection, the most comprehensive ever devoted to the comedian.
