Gladys Knight and Freddie Jackson among the celebrities to join the celebration
WDAS/FM, the region’s leading R&B radio outlet, announced last week a concert to celebrate Patty Jackson’s 30 years in radio, to be held at 7 PM, Sunday, Aug. 19.
The event will feature Gladys Knight, Freddie Jackson, Harold Melvin’s Blue Notes, The Delfonics, Glen Jones, Enchantment and Breakwater live at the Dell Music Center.
The concert, sponsored by WDAS FM, Platinum Productions and the Dell Music Center, will celebrate Jackson’s legendary career in broadcasting and current reign as the “Midday Queen of Philly.” From emceeing the city’s most high profile community events to mentoring young girls, she has made her mark on the Philadelphia community and the radio industry. Jackson has consistent ratings success and her personality webpage for WDAS FM is frequently No. 1.
In addition, she has received numerous awards, including “Communicator of the Year” from the National MBA Association and for the past four years has been named “Favorite Radio Personality” by The Philadelphia Tribune. Jackson is deeply connected with the music world and her strong link with listeners and devotion to the community have made her one of the city’s most beloved celebrities.
